Young Indians, come forward... India's respect is in your hands!!

When I was young I was made to learn two very important lessons by my parents and they told me the following saying and a story to remember...

(1) Saying goes like this -

When Wealth is lost, nothing is lost;

When Health is lost, something is lost;

When Respect is lost, everything is lost!!

Now tell me what have we lost?

Don't jump and react... Wait till you hear the other story...

(2) Story is like this...

Once there was an Indian personality visited Japan and he was waiting inside the railway station for the train and he was finding it very difficult to make out which train he should board as everything was written in Japanese and he could not communicate with the fellow travelers. One Japanese person came forward to help him. While departing, he requested him to not to share this incident with anyone back home (in India) as that would create a very bad impression about Japan.

Now this is very simple story. These are not something unique or uncommon. Everyone of us must have heard these, but unfortunately the media's unauthorized power and unsolicited approach has created a bigger than reality shadow of India who is trying, like a young kid, to come up on the world stage to perform!

Now tell me if this issue of corruption new in India? It is there for last 200 or more years... It's seeds were sown long back by Britishers only!! They wanted to get the pie of Indian flavor and thats why they corrupt our kings and found their way into this magnificent country!! Today also we are letting same things happen... Whether it is MNC companies, foreign vested interests, our corrupted leaders, our rotten media, and in fact our 1 billion unaware junta... we all are culprits... we let things go easily as long as it is outside the boundaries of our immediate purview or interest! We forget that thats what Britishers have created when they wanted to enter strong and powerful India. And today we are divided...

India is very straight forward nation still. Indians are also very straightforward. Our corruption is nothing in front of the rest of the world! Our double standard is nothing in front of diplomacy shown by any other country of the world!!

But the fact remains to find out that those are propagating to much negative are on whose side? Are they having any vested interest (direct or indirect, immediate or future)? be it media, be it corporate leaders, be it our politicians... every one is in race to grab the pie of India flavor and every one is wanting to have the max (not only for present, but for future too... and there is no limit... every 'zero' added gives them the kick... 1000,000,000,000,000 and still counting...

We as a nation have forgotten the basics of living... we do not know ways of living but we celebrate art of living... We do not have "roti, kapra, makan" for the 80% of our people but we have 'nano, mobile" for 100% of our junta... we do not come forward to work or take up things on own, but always give 'baashan' and lecture to blame other who came forward to atleast do the thing, which otherwise nobody would have done...

In the end, I would like to say just one thing more, which is again not very uncommon - It is very easy to blame others and very very tough to come on stage and take charge... but the young generation of Indians is not like us... they know the solution and also know how to take on things! All the best young India and i know we will see you one day on the world stage, performing and rest of the world will be the spectator!

WYSI-not-WYG anymore in INDIA...

I feel, what we normally see is not what we get these days.
Then can we say, 'WYSIWYG' doesn't exist anymore?
In present context, my answer to this be - SURELY YES!!

To give you few pointers -

Indian Economy is growing at rate faster than most of the world economies except two.
Top selected developed countries are already busy (and lot more will soon get busy) calculating their share of pie from the big cake going to be cut year-on-year.

Each Industry. Every Need.
Each State. Every Where.
Each One. Every Way.
You name it and they are almost there...

And, the fact is, we (including our govt.) are busy saving our hard earned cents. Not understanding that we are loosing huge bucks to earn one penny. We have become "Penny wise, Pound foolish"

But we think that's our limit. Some think that's our destiny. Few others say that's how it is.
Fact is we have become a nation of more than 1 billion sleeping creatures.

Today, India need more of Nehru, Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, and less of Mittal, Ambani, Mallya...

Today we (as a country) are doing someone Else's (other countries) dreams.
We need to dream for ourselves... for our Country. We then need to DO what 'WE' DREAM. Not what others dream.

GOD has given us POWER to DREAM. Dream Bigger!

GOD has stuffed PEACE all inside us.
GOD has wrapped us with GRACE & JOY.
GOD has empowered us to be UNIQUE.

and...

ONE fine day we DREAMT of POWER. Bigger Power.
In our quest to be UNIQUE, we wanted to be UNIQUE among ourselves also.
We HOPE to attain more and more of POWER with LOVE for ourselves.
In beginning PEACE is all over. GRACE is omnipresent. HOPEs are high everywhere.
Slowly slowly, we began to enjoy POWER more than LOVE, PEACE, HOPE, JOY, GRACE...
We are no more UNIQUE!
That was the turning-point when we did not realise.
Everything started happening opposite.

now...

UNTIL and unless, we start doing the basics again ,we will and can not reverse the cycle.
Science needs proof but Soul needs to be understood only! Our basic ingredients are LOVE, JOY, GRACE, POWER, HOPE, MAGIC, HEAL, PEACE (and actually many more thousand words.... these are just few words out of my limited vocab!)... we have left them behind in the race!

but, there is a way out...

That is to clean the slate and start again. Fresh.
And nothing best than with Children of today.
If we just nurture the soul of todays' children (poor or rich), automatically tomorrow's world will be full of LOVE, JOY, GRACE, POWER, HOPE, MAGIC, HEAL, PEACE within all of us... and we all will be living wonders of joy!

Universe knows means and ways to be sustainable.
...it is only WE who have forgotten the nature and its sustainable nature!

Here is my experience in last one year on CC...

CO2-e, carbon trading, climate change, CDP, CDM, and many more such jargons were all greek to me till few years back! No wonder, I can imagine what it would be to rest of approx 6bn plus people surviving along with me right now.

Ironically, in my case I was too much involved in my own things to notice action around me. In every corner of my home there was something or other happening concerning either our people, culture, earth, climate, or eco system. To name few events, either some CD cover getting designed for climate change and environmental films for schools, magazines being edited on topics like CO2 emmision norms, hot envionments issues under scanner, posters and movie
cover designed on rain water harvesting, etc. Courtsey my wife's engagement with CSE (Centre for science and environment) and other professional bodies like British Council, earth mater fioiundation, tv/e inspiring change, WWF and many more. On the other hand, lot of great initiatives were also happening in my second home (i.e. Larsen & Toubro). However, like most of L&T-ites, I was also unaware of any such initiatives.

It was early this year when I came across, touched, experienced, and understood the concept from very near. It all started in very subtle way, with my regular meetings and interactions with organisations & institutions like TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute), BEE (Bureau of Energy Efficiency), HAREDA (Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency), IREDA, WWF India, CII, E&Y, etc and regular interactions with building consultants for sustainable & Green Building solutions... In my own view, I gained little bit of farsightedness on the subject. However my farsightedness was limited only to solutions we were offering and our competition's offerings. Initially my world on energy effecieny was our IBMS (Integrated Building Management Solution), EMS (Energy Management Solution), other energy improvement solutions, and but obvious occupancy sensors for energy saving. Only when I started participating in various events and seminars, I came to know that L&T is front-runner in all important and
bigger actions already. To give few examples, I was invited and respected by CDP and WWF India team on L&T's leading & active participation in CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project 2009: Report avlb on http://www.cdproject.net/) and were called by them to offer our energy saving solutions to them. We were also welcomed and respected by indutry experts like E&Y and CII to share role of companies like us (and others in ICT sector) towards sustainable habitats and energy
efficient solutions for industry... It was all because of the fact that we belong to 'the group' whose leadership team walks the talk and has all 'the will' to make things happen. This make me going too far each day... again and again.

Imagine what would happen if all the countries and corporates (big and small, indian or MNC, private and government) have political will to make it happen too! I'm sure, that wil surely make everyone go beyond 'saving our planet earth'. Certainly, it would be towards 'creating sustainable planet earth'

Early Morning of 27th August 2009. Time 5 o'clock by all watches around.

Last night I slept at 2:30 only to get up at 4:30 ish. Got 2 wake up calls from the reception counter of hotel I stayed in. One exact at 4 and other around little before 5ish...

I jumped out with thought that if not now, then never... i have come so far off so i should not miss this golden chance of visiting 'Golden Temple' during the golden time of the day!!

I was out on the road sooner than sound of 'n' comes after sound of 's' in soon! What? Just Forget it.

HONEY, It's not all about MONEY... Life is about WINNING!
